I am pretty sure that I had never lifted a barbell off the ground, curled a dumbbell, or thrusted any kind of weight over my head for that matter, before I started CrossFit 11 years ago in Park City, UT.  I had definitely run thousands of trail miles, climbed tons of rocky crags, hiked and skied mountains big and small, and kicked a million soccer balls, but no way could I do a pull-up, a handstand push-up (a what??), or press a measly 20lbs over my head!  CrossFit legend, Chris Spealler trained me in my first little triplet of super light KB Swings, mini box jumps, and featherweight push presses.  I had the very fortunate opportunity to train at his gym for the next 3 years.

I then followed my heart 8 years ago when I moved to Denver to be with my husband John.  I quickly became pregnant and had my beautiful baby girl Tessa, who is now 6 years old.  Yep, I was one of those crazy pregnant ladies still WODing hard until the day she was born!  But honestly, those workouts were the only thing that kept me sane and feeling good, and I fully attribute my quick and smooth labor & delivery to CrossFit.  In October 2011, I became CrossFit Level 1 certified.  A couple of years later in September 2013, I received my CrossFit Gymnastics certification.  And a month later, I stumbled upon CrossFit Profectus.  At the time, I had been commuting down to Denver to coach at  another CrossFit gym, but I started to crave a CrossFit “family” environment here in Broomfield where I could be an athlete and also be coached.  And that is what I found upon meeting Graem and joining CrossFit Profectus.

After coaching for a couple of years at Profectus, I decided it was time to re-dedicate myself to advancing my coaching skills and completed the CrossFit Level 2 certification course in 2016.  As an athlete, you will usually see me hammering it out at 10am during the week.  As your coach, you will notice my presence not just in the classes I coach on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but also in our programming.  In addition to coaching, I thoroughly enjoy contributing to the programming at CrossFit Profectus.

Julie Bachman, Coach, Marketing/Events

My CrossFit journey started in 2013.  Graem invited me to try a class in his garage.  After finishing my first workout, I was hooked!  I played sports throughout my childhood but sport was something I’d long left behind me.  I realized after my first CrossFit workout how much I missed being breathless, sweating, and feeling accomplished.  In 2015, I earned my CrossFit Level 1 certification and in March of 2018, earned my USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Coaching Certification.  I have a passion for weightlifting.

I am a Colorado Native.  In 2007 I graduated from Metropolitan State College with a BA in Human Development and minor in Elementary Education.  I have a wonderfully supportive husband and two beautiful sons.  When I’m not at the gym, I love to be outside with the kids or curled up with a good book.
